The Light-Adjustable Lens (LAL) manufactured by RxSight™ is the first and only cataract lens implant that can be customized after cataract surgery. This customization helps deliver superior visual outcomes that non-adjustable IOLs simply cannot match. The refractive surgeons at Precision Vision were selected to be the first in Oklahoma to have Light-Adjustable Lens (LAL) technology.
In a study of 600 subjects, those who received the Light Adjustable Lens followed by adjustments were twice as likely to achieve 20/20 distance vision at 6 months without glasses as those who received a standard monofocal IOL. This technology can also allow patients to have the best possible corrected vision for distance in their dominant eye and if they wish for independence from reading glasses, the surgeon can adjust their non-dominant eye for reading vision.
The Light Adjustable Lens is made of a special photosensitive material that changes the shape and power of your implanted lens in response to ultraviolet (UV) light. Light treatments are delivered in your doctor’s office with the Light Delivery Device (LDD).
During the Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) procedure, you will first undergo cataract surgery, where your eye surgeon will implant the LAL similarly to a traditional intraocular lens (IOL). After the surgery, there will be a healing period of a few weeks to allow your eye to recover.
Once your eye has healed, you will return to your eye doctor for a series of painless light treatments that adjust the lens to fine-tune your vision. These treatments are non-invasive and typically require several visits to achieve the desired visual outcome. Finally, a final light treatment will lock in the adjustments, ensuring long-lasting and stable results.
